Riding Lessons
Avalon Meadows RiderAvalon Meadows offers lessons in Hunter/Jumpers and Dressage as well as English and Western pleasure. We teach beginners through advanced riders ages 4 and up. We are also equipped to teach people with disabilities. Avalon Meadows has a fleet of wonderful and patient school horses. We have horses and ponies to match any type of rider and discipline.

In lessons we place an emphasis on equitation (rider position), because without that no rider can be truly effective. When the rider is effective in the use of their aids then the horse is more easily compelled to give the right response. When all of this takes place the horse and rider seem to move effortlessly together through any task. Avalon Meadows also wants students to understand the importance of taking good care of their horse in other ways than just riding. We like to explain the basics of vet and farrier care as well as feeds and nutrition. This helps students of all ages learn about the horse as a whole. Most lessons are taught on a one on one basis, however sometimes small groups of two or three can be arranged. We also encourage students to schedule practice rides for even more time in the saddle.
